DIY: Chain and Ribbon Bracelets

As mentioned in the previous blog post, these bracelets are made by yours truly :") For this blog post, I will show you how you can make your own.

Materials:
  1. chain. (7 inches, but if you want to use the double chain, you'll use 14 inches) is the standard size for bracelets, but you can use the length that's most comfortable to you. Also, you can choose how thick/the color of your chain when you're buying it.
  2. ribbon.(1 yard is fine, but you'll probably have some leftovers) it depends on what ribbon you want to use and the color. I was going to use suede lace, but I couldn't find any at the time.
  3. jack hooks. (min. of 3 for 1 bracelet)
  4. lobster hook(1 for each bracelet)
  5. glue, but if you'd like to sew the ends, you can do so with needle and thread of the same or similar color as your ribbon.
Overall Cost: P84.75(including the glue)

Instructions(for single chain)

  1. Tie a knot at the end of the chain to secure the end. Make the end as short as possible, because you're going to hide that later.
  2. Insert the ribbon in the first chain. Make the ribbon as tight as much as you'd like it to be.
  3. Continue to insert the ribbon in the next chain hole.
  4. Once you've gotten the hang of it, it'll be easy to go all the way to the end of the chain.
  5. Once you've reached the end, tie another knot similar to the one you made at the beginning. Burn the ends so that it doesn't fray
  6. Glue the end of the knot forward to another part of the ribbon to hide the end.
  7. If you use a gel-like glue like I did, it won't dry right away, so you'd probably like to use clips to keep the glued parts together and in place.
  8. attach the jack hooks and lobster hook on both ends.

Instructions (for double chain)
*follow step 1 of the single chain bracelet.

  1. Instert the ribbon in the chain hole.
  2. Insert the end of the ribbon in the backside of the 2nd chain. This might be tricky because the chains tend to twist, so it's best for you to hold them together or use something to keep them stable.
  3. Pull out the end of the ribbon then insert it to the next hole of the 1st chain.
  4. Repeat the process of inserting through both chains.
*follow steps 5-8 of the single chain bracelet.

I hope you guys liked this DIY tutorial :) Please message me for questions/suggestions.
