DIY: Ombre Tassle Earrings

Hi everyone!! As I was looking through my facebook newsfeed, I noticed that a lot of people are selling accessories. It may not look it, but I have a very tight budget for shopping on my own, and I just can't afford everything that I see. The accessories, especially in malls, are expensive and I noticed that some of them can be easily made.

This is my first DIY, so please bear with me hihi :)

Materials:

  1. chain. I bought 2 yards because the lady at Carolina's wouldn't let me buy if it wasn't in yards. You can decide on how thick your chain is and its color.
  2. jack hooks. (2) uhh i think that's what they're called? correct me if I'm wrong
  3. earring hooks (2)
  4. paint of your color choice. I was going for a neon yellow, but they ran out. Also, if you have a open space you can use spray paint, it'll be easier and it'll stick to your chains more.
  5. masking tape. -this one i only thought about using when I was already done with the project, but it'll be very helpful when you're painting the chains.
Overall Cost: P105 ($2.33)
-the jack and earring hooks come in packs so you can use the remaining for future use

Instructions:
  1. Cut the chains to the desired length and quantity. Mine were 4.5 inches long; 5 chains per earring.
  2. Paint the chains up to where you want it to have color. Mine was 3 inches from the bottom. Put masking tape on the part where you don't want color so that the color becomes even and paint doesn't spread on it.
  3. Wait until the paint dries so that they won't stick together.
  4. Gather the chains in one jack hook.
  5. Add the earring hook to each jack hook.
Voila! Your earrings are now done :)
*Note: if you used a matte kind of paint and want the colored part to be as shiny as the unpainted part, you can use clear nail polish. This holds the color on the earrings as well.

So yes, this is how I wore my ombre tassle earrings. I like all these colors mashing up together in one outfit. I like how the earrings brighten it up, and it wasn't even expensive nor hard to make!

All These Patterns

When I was a kid, I used to think that it wasn't right and it didn't look good if clothes with patterns were worn together. I always wore either a plain top and printed skirt/pants/shorts or a printed top and a plain bottom, but now I've learned that it doesn't look all that bad. Of course not all patterns and colors go together, but with a bit of practice, I guess it just comes naturally now.

I really like the skirt's pattern. When I saw it at the mall, it was the last piece that they had (and it was even on a mannequin!) Not to be all competitive, but I felt like I really liked it and I wanted to purchase it before anyone else wanted to. I like its fabric because it's not the type to get easily blown away when there's wind, and there's another layer underneath the top layer, so it gives volume to the skirt. The top I bought recently. It has a really soft fabric and it compliments the sort of stiffness of the skirt. I like how the necklace's color pops among all these patterns, mainly because it's bright yellow. I was able to buy this necklace at a tiangge in Luneta last year. It's really cheaper compared to the necklaces similar to it that I saw in the mall. Also, it kinda shows Filipino culture so I'm very proud to have incorporated it in my outfit. Finally, the shoes! Okay, so they may not be the UNIF studded shoes that everyone seems to have these days, but it has the same flare. Besides, I kind of prefer this one because I can wear this to school and church, and it would still look appropriate (not to mention not having to worry about poking myself haha!)

It's summer and you know what that means - time to get some awesome ladies summer dresses!

Those Aztec Shorts

slippers are perfect for the beach. i don't know what other footwear i would've worn :))
aztec shorts x lace top forever21

To celebrate mother's day, my family and I went to Cavite. It seems that we've been going to a lot of beaches lately, and that's perfect! It's summer and going to the beach is a cool way to freshen up, even if it isn't Boracay or whatnot.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am in love with tribal designs right now, so these shorts were a definite grab for me. Because it was mother's day and we were going to the beach, I didn't want to pair it with just a cotton shirt nor did I want to wear a blouse that was to snazzy, which is why I decided to wear this comfortable lace top. It wasn't itchy or heavy for me to wear.

Comments are much appreciated. thanks :)

Last Day of Finals! \:D/

i was instructing my sister to take a picture of me leaving space on the side. WHAT A FAIL IT WAS :))
i'm so glad my hair is finally long enough to have a french braid. soon I'll also be able to tie it in a side braid :")
On our way home, we noticed this really pretty tree and I just HAD TO take pictures :))

Today was the last day of my final exams! FTW!! :)) I can't believe it's summer. Like officially summer. For the past few days, I've been studying for my two finals exams, and now they are both finally over. Today I had my business calculus exam. I really hope I pass :)) It's been a hard time in school lately, and I'm just glad to get things over with. Also, I have to admit, it gave me a bad headache, but that didn't stop me from chillin' with my family (who started summer break waaay before I did -.-) and have merienda. Near my dad's office is a clubhouse where we decided to cool off and eat sandwiches and halo-halo :") it was definitely a way to beat the heat!

On our way out, my mom noticed a tree with these beautiful flowers(one of my current favorite colors, might I add). It was so prettyyyy. It was hard to resist taking pictures. :)

Front and Center

so this is what i wore today :)
it's a simple sun dress that i wore with a denim jacket and my school shoes.
(and yes, i checked,  it's long enough to be worn in school-but I think i really couldn't take the denim jacket off because i dont think spaghetti straps are allowed in the dress code)
i wore this 'cause there hasn't really been an opportunity to wear dresses lately due to the bad weather.. but now it's sunny again \:D/ plus i loved the pattern on the dress :))
this outfit is very easy to put together because it's a bunch of pieces that are a staple to most closets ;)

if you guys want to add a twist to this outfit and make it more edgier(or if you want some shade and protect your head from UV rays! :D) you may want to add another accessory like a hat.. :)
i'm not sure where my mom bought the hat, but i'm pretty sure it was at a tiangge somewhere :))
